Putting together a new comp and wondering what hard drives every ones having the best luck with.I want to get 2 160 gbs. Thanks in advance Chris
If building, make your main drive any size Western Digital Raptor (10,000RPM vs, 7200). Put Windows, programs, games, recovery partition if you use it on that one. Your other drive, put all your storage of everything else. Just looking at the numbers, it doesn't seem like a big difference but performance wise it is huge.
I like SATA drives. They are a little more expensive, but they are susposed to have faster transfer rates. And, above all, no jumpers! All you gotta do it plug it up and format it and have fun!
Western Digital is very good. I would use those 2 160`s in a Raid 0 setup for the Ultimate in performance. Plus I have and would go for Serial ATA drives, or SATA . I would also go for the newest or next generation SATA 2. I think it`s rated as SATA 300 compared to my setup at SATA 150.
Thanks all for your input. To let you know I just came home with a WD SATA 300 250 gig and after installing will let you know how it does.THANKS AGAIN CHRIS
