I am having trouble connecting 3 SATA devices

In SATA port 1: 150GB SATA HDD with OS which I will use to boot from.
In SATA port 2: 1 1TB HDD which I will use for file storage and backup.
    In SATA port 3: 1 DVD-RW.

However, the system will not boot from the OS drive.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Any help appreciated.

Have you set the correct boot order in the BIOS?

I second Sam's post and add --- only connect your OS drive first. Insure its working and your BIOS sees it.
Is this a brand new build? Are you pulling drives off a different machine and installing into a different one and now theres problems?
We really do need more information about the steps you've taken up until now.
