Hi All, I am new to this board and was wondering if anyone may be able to help me. I have installed a 500GB Sata II drive on my computer via a Sata/Raid Card that fit into a PCI slot. Now the problem I am having is that I was only able to format the drive in Fat32. Now whenever I boot the computer it takes about ten minutes to boot up. once it boots up everything is fine except that it takes extremely long to transfer anything to or from that drive. The computer still works fine. I am not extremely knowledgable about computers so if anyone has any suggestions as to what the problem may be it would be greatly appreciated. I realise you probably need more info about my computer to be able to help but I am at work right now and can give more info when I get home. My original HD on my computer is an IDE drive and is formatted in NTFs. I want to keep that as my master and use the SATA drive as a slave. I don't know if the problem is in the way the cables are hooked up or if it is with the BIOS. Sorry about the long post and any help is greatly appreciated. Any additional info that is needed please let me know and I will try to post it as soon as I can. Thanks.
You should be able to format any HDD with NTFS unless what you are using it for prevents that (going in a PS3 or Mac, for example)
