Okay, so i'm thinking of getting satellite tv. to start off, just the basic package, no extras yet. however, i hate the satellite boxes. they annoy me, and are an eye-sore. pluse, lazy as i am, i don't want another remote control! lol. so here's the question: if i just run the satellite signal wire straight into the jack on my tv, will i get the picture? or is there some encryption that will get in the way without the box? excuse my idiocy (word?), i'm a newbie to satellite. with cable, i know you can just run it in, and i've had that for years. thnx for all posts.

The reason is that the signal has encryption, for Bell it's Nagra or somthing like that, anyway more info can be got at http://www.sattech.ca or http://www.dishnewbies.com but be warned these sites contain information on how to pirate satelite signals which is illegal, but either way you'll still need the box. The sites also contains other information that's not illegal which i find very useful.
