sattelite firm ware for spain

    was in spain lately and the house had a sattelite system .city com 508 sat reciever and a tiny dish 35cm ,and was picking up all s*y movies and sport and uk channels on astra 19 and hotbird with no encryption or bills . just 2 questions.1 can anyone explain this and 2is there specific firmware for spain(alicante region). thanks in anticipation.anthony

    It looks like you saw a mmds system fed from a local transmitter.

    definitely not mmds. ita my own house.its a sat dish with lnb some houses have mmds others have dishes.thanks anyway mgb17

    There are mesh dishes and satellite dishes in use for the local mmds systems in spain.
    Two different systems but both via local transmitters.

    might b the case, i just assumed as it was a dish and a satellite
    reciever that it was exactly that. which still has me looking for the firmware to set up another one in another room, and can the signal b split. also can you recommend a box. ? thanks

    Normally the signal is scrambled at such systems and you need a subscription card or a special provider box.
    It looks like the preowner of your mmds receiving system paid for a year in advance.

    i paid a once off fee 400 euro once off fee in july 2006. no further subs. once off deals available all over spain inc full s*y systems for 700euros.
