I get conflicting reports about this everywhere I read(here and on CD Freaks forum). Supposedly, the standard scan speed is 8X using Nero's quality test on CD-DVD speed. However, most of my media has been burned at 4X on MCC 002 and MCC 003 Verbatims. My question is, should you scan a burned disc at a speed equal to the burn speed to get the most accurate results, or is 8X still the standard considered most accurate? Naturally, I get more errors when scanning at 8X than 4X. Does a standalone DVD player default the play speed to the speed at which a disc was burned? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
To make things look easier, yes, if you burned your 8X media on 4X only, then the best way to get the precise result will have to be scanned at 4X when using Nero CD-DVD Speed. It won't do any good, if you burned at 4X and scanned at 8X -- that is likely to be off on the results. According to my understanding, your stand alone will read/play the same speeds as when you burned them.
