I have connected a SCART to s video cable between the rear of my pay tv set top box and the input on the 30" LCD display. Sound is ok but the picture is monochrome. Does anyone have any suggestions about the cause of the problem? Thank you

suspect your box doesn't put out s video. This certainly true of UK Sky sat boxes and may be true of others. Consequence is (if I've understood this!) that your s video luminance input is seeing composite (since s vid and comp share various pins in SCART) . Poss solution is rgb to s video convertor (For UK about £35 from Maplin)
Having said that I've been having all kinds of problems connecting up PC, Sky Box, VHS, TV while doing RGB to s video and then switching the lot six ways out of Sunday!! God don't you just hate SCART (Its French you know and if you've ever seen their phone plugs you'll understand how come they brewed up such a pig's ear of a connector!)

Thank you for your input. I am not confident it can be fixed. I suspect my Australian satellite box does not support s video. regards Gary
