Just got this email and it scared the life out of me, only was not about to open the attachement til I did a little research this is what it was Just a word of warning to anyone else.
Thanks for the warning arniebear. I've been hearing about this virus for the past week on the news but haven't known anyone that received this email. They said it looks pretty realistic and it sure does - it would definitely scare me at first too!
LOL - if you've been a bad boy santa won't bring you anything esp since you've visiting all those illegal websites ;0)
i don't even bother to check unknown emails so that way i know i'm sure i will not get these email trojans or virus whatever that thing is.
they use email generator works like key generator, or sometimes they get ur email from ur friend's trojan infected computer, and i think u heard about those workers from AOL are selling email adresseses to spammers and hackers back then.
Doesen't help when people accidentally share their Outlook addresses contacts by deciding to share their whole HDD on P2P networks. Doh! -Mike
arniebear i got the same email man, scared the piss out of me also off the bat till i called the FBI number and found out it was spam they had a recording saying it was spam and to call your web provider .i ran a full system scan and everything seems to be fine ,none tonight when i got home and wow i got a private message here tonight from a steve didnt reply to it
@aabbccdd Yeah it looks so official it makes you jump, but I figured if the CIA really was interested the men in black would be at my door. Since this email came to my AOL main account that I have had for 10 years and only use for business I new something was up. As for the PM from Steve I got one too I think he is just desperate for an answer to his problem, personally I think his burner is dead.
yeah i thought the same thing dead burner arniebear, let me know if you get anymore and i will be on the look out for them also, were both in the midwest Ohio,Indiana so it probably in this area , i did open one and ran it though winzip but it was nothing ,in the mean time i deleted winzip and reloaded it ran all kinds of spyware programs and my Trend Mirco virse scan and everything seems to be fine
@ arniebear....... did your happen to have an attachment to it?? here is a read and the official explanation of it.. my boss got this e-mail today.. http://www.crime-research.org/news/11.23.2005/1652/ another one http://www.nesara.us/apr02/April_28__2002_-_Forces_DESTROY_CIA_Email_Virus_Technologies_.htm here is the one you got Arniebear http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20051122/tc_afp/usinternetvirusfbi
@gear79 Thanks for the info it was a good read, and explained a lot. If you look at my aol posted email you will see the txt file that was the attathment, the one that say NortonAntivirusDeleted, guess it is self-explanatory after reading your sites, i.e. it will disable your antivirus. Considering this is an old virus you would think they would have found a way to stop it, what a pain.
