Hi a quick question. I'm about to make a major purchase and buy this television (sceptre 42" LCD) from costco.com Link to the TV is here: http://www.sceptre.com/Products/LCD/Specifications/spec_X42GV-Naga.htm It's got a coupon that has $500 off and I get general good reviews about it. But I have a question. I was told that a Good LCD should have 800-1000 brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratio, and XGA or WXGA resolution. Info where I got it was from afterdawn. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/74117 The website shows it has only 1 out of the 3 things stated. The brightness is only 550, half of 1000 and it says it has PC VGA resolution. Is it worth buying? Thanks in advance for all the help.
The article you are looking at talks about LCD projectors. You are looking at an LCD display. I would imagine that the 2 sets of specs are very different. If you look at specs for LCD monitors, you'll see that these numbers are actually quite good.
I am also interested in this 42" TV but costo.com does not stock it at the moment, where did you see it? Can you post URL?
You can get more info on it directly from Sceptre: http://www.sceptre.com/Products/LCD/Specifications/spec_X42GV-Naga.htm Otherwise you will have to wait until March 6th when it will become availble for sale online from a wholesale club near you!
