Scrambled video

I have just discovered this great process of backing up my DVDs. Have a lite-on 411s DVD burner (firmware updated), windows xp. Use 1click, with DVD43.
My copied DVD viewed through my home DVD player looks great….. except after a period of time the video starts looking scrambled…..like video satellite signal looks when you start to lose the signal.
I have on one occasion stopped playback, replayed the same spot and everything looked fine.
Could this be a compatibility issue with my blank media (verbatim –R) and my DVD burner ?……burner does not support verbatim media, but I’ve seen good reviews for verbatim.

Thanks for your help…..I believe I have found a new hobby

For Lite-On burners I hear it is best to stick with DVD+R media. Don't own one myself though so...

How does it play on your PC? Could also scan the disc with kprobe or similar to check quality.

Thanks for the info, There seems to be so many variables for improvement that my head is starting to spin. Disc looks good on my PC, guess I need to check my player. I got the KProbe utility, now I need to find some sort of a manual to tell me how to use it! I find the web site not that helpful.

Try CDFreaks. Should be plenty of info.
