Thats the DVD copy protection at work.... to get the frameshot you seek... you will have to rip the movie and then extract the frame you seek (or THEN play it and take a screenshot)

I have ripped them and all that.
AVI files and MPEG files and so on
I will play them with winamp or any other player when I get to the picture I want to capture I will pause it then hit the screen capture... but I just get a black pic

You can do screen capture of your DVD movie using PowerDVD or WinDVD, there's a button that looks like a camera, click it and it will be saved in clipboard or in an image file, just check the settings of your software.

Did you try that? Always works! And you can even pick and choose what fram you want, going frame by frame!

You can set a hot key with some versions of windvd and it works! it actually copies the frame and pastes it into MsPaint!
