i have a scond hdd and i format it for windows xp. when wxp is done installing the screen resolution is horrible and the color quality is even worse.i go to properties and settings but it wont move from 4 or 800 x 600. another thing, none of the things pluged in except for mouse and keyboard appear you know how window starts and you get that found new hardware box i dont get that at all. any help please......
What are your system specs, do you have a graphics card or is it onboard, see you probably need your motherboard drivers cd.

you need to install your motherboard drivers. you can find them on this page http://www.silverstar.com.hk/driver/driver_in.htm make sure you download the one for your chipset (Intel® 845GV) otherwise they wont work
thank you so much, both of you. ive been back and forth and no one else could help. but i have one more question. if i got an old used computer that had windows 98 and i were to install windows xp, would i still get the same problems?
i doubt it usually only half decent or good motherboards need the drivers, also a computer the age of a win98 box should have full support in xp.. id guess lol.
