I wasn't sure where to post this, and hope this is the appropriate forum. I recently bought a notebook with a dvd burner, and was excited at the prospect of being able to back up my dvd collection. How naive am I? Of course, they're protected. I've spent the past week searching everywhere on the net for advice about how to circumvent this problem to no avail. I found a thread (from 2004!) in which Scuba Pete gave step-by-step instructions on using dvdencrypter and dvdshrink to burn protected dvds and within 45 mins, I had backed up my first disc. Scuba Pete, you are hilarious and an absolute legend. Your guide had me laughing as I was copying. I've backed up numerous music discs before, but this was the first time I actually enjoyed the experience, lol. There were other people in that thread who were also helpful. Thanks to the generosity of the people here, I can be safe in the knowledge that I can now back up my dvd collection. I feel guilty because I'm so ignorant when it comes to this stuff that I have nothing to contribute. So I thought the least I could do was take the time to show my appreciation... Thank you, thank you, thank you.
