Hi to all the clever ones again..thanks for your help in the passed

I have just installed a second DVD writer player, thinking it would just be a case of plugging each one in. er not in my case.

If I plug each writer independantly there is no problem, windows xp home edition finds the writer and away i go.

When i plug both in together niether work.
So they are getting mixed up some how, this is where you come to help..i hope

They have there own volatge plug, but i am using the same wiring harness for both.thats the black wiring strap about 2 inches wide.

Thanks again and merry christmas to all

using the jumpers on the back of the drives:

The one on the end of the ribbon cable should be set to master, and the one connected in the "Middle" should be set to slave...

    Hi
Thanks for your reply to my problem
I know I might sound a bit thick, but when you mean jumpers, are those the little plug that are set on the pins at the back of the writer.
How do you no which is the master and which is the slave

    thanks

that little black thing is the jumper/shunt. it is marked on the back of the drive which is master, slave or cable select. master is the 2 pins beside the ide cable, slave is in the middle & cable select is furthest from ide cable.
