Cut out the middle man and don't even allow them access to windows....set a BIOS password and set to enter it every time you boot up...noone gets in w/o your PW

You say the family uses your computer when you're not home, has wrecked your computer previously, and they won't take no for an answer.

Hmmm. You really don't need monitoring software. If they use the computer and it's not wrecked - No harm. If they use the computer and it IS wrecked - What good is any software??

You really need to say NO and mean it. Or just buy a new machine as necessary! Seriously, you need to control it. Or make them buy their own machine - and you would still need to control yours.

Don't mean to sound harsh - just calling it as I see it.

just get the free "returnil" program and it will let you program (schedule) it to put the computer in virtual mode when your not there.

When in virtual mode the computer acts and runs the same, the only thing is that nothing is written to the hard drive. Everything is run in system memory. If a virus is downloaded or an important system file is deleted or the registry modified/wallpaper changed that only occurs in system memory and a simple reboot will return everything to normal. If a program is installed when in virtual mode that also will be deleted when rebooted. You can create a virtual partition where important information can be saved that will survive the reboot. It only protects the c: drive, which is the important drive in most cases.
