I didnt see a section for help on this so i am posting it here, hopefully thats not a problem. Quick questions when im downloading a movie using utorrent and the file finishes it starts to seed. Can I download a different movie while that is still seeding? Also, can i seed more than one movie? Can someone please explain seeding because i want to help people get certain movies or downloads if i can help by seeding. Thanks
Options > Preferences > Queuing, to set maximums. You can download until the maximums are exceeded - then queuing starts. My maximum upload speed is 50 kB/S - otherwise surfing slows too much.
if you have it setup in your settings you can download and upload(seed)more than 1 movie yes in utorrent got to Options-preference-Queueing- then set maximum amount of avtive torrents(upload or download) to what ever you want i have 25 then set maximum active downloads to what ever you want(once agian i have 25) hope this helps some seeding= when your down downloading a movie it then seeds back. what that means it is letting other pull the torrent from you along with anyone else who has it and is seeding it too. most sites want you to seed back to a 1:1 ratio. say you download 4.41gb's they would like to see you seed back the 4.41gb's. but some only require you to seed back to a .700 ratio example. if you download 4.41gb you can stop seeding it if you have uploaded 3.10 gbs roughly that would give you a .700 ratio you want to give everyone else the chance to get the movie like you got.
Thanks but I still dont understand what seeding means and does? I can seed more than one movie? Is it good to seed all the time?? please help me understand so i can help out. Thanks
Seeding is broadcasting or distributing. Someone initially makes the media available by seeding. As you and other Peers download, you are also uploading what you have. When you have completed downloading, you crossover to become a seeder (just uploading the file). You can seed more than one movie - however the bandwidth you allocate to uploading is split between each movie. If you allocate 50kb/s to seeding and you have five movies seeding, each will be uploading at 10kb/s. Most of my downloads I will seed for a 2:1 ratio, but I have one ancient resource that has an 86:1 ratio that I seed periodically when I see some poor soul hanging out for it.
Kind of dated but should answer some more questons: http://btfaq.com/serve/cache/1.html and a few here: http://www.utorrent.com/faq.php
Dude .... its quite simple ... There are Leechers (L) and Seeders (S). When you download from a file sharing site ... to get the fastest download speeds click on the one with the most seeds and Leechers. Seeders are basically people who have downloaded the file 100% i.e. the uploader of the file (the people or person who is sharing the file - for example if u had a file u wanted to share with people and you put it on a file sharing site you would be a seeder).... Leechers are people who are downloading ... ie if you click to download something from one of those sites you will be classed as a Leecher. ... basically leechers are people who are in the process of downloading but havent downloaded 100% yet ... The way you should look at it - when downloading content you want to get a balance ... have 10 + seeders (people who have 100% of the file) and as many leechers as possible. I usually download with something like 100 Seeders and 400 Leechers .. but this depends on the file type and the popularity as to how many people are Seeding (uploading the file) and Leeching (downloading the file). Btw your utorrent or what ever has to be on in order to show yourself as a Seeder or Leecher. You can Seed more that one movie Yes. Just change your setting as per above .... It depends mate. Depends how fast your internet speed is. For me personally I only seed things once or twice so that two or more people get it. If there are already lots of seeders (people who have 100% of the file) then I dont bother seeding. It can slow you internet speed if you seed too many files as you are using your bandwith to tranfer the data from and to your computer and others around the world. Hope that explains everything for you. In essence - Seeders are people who have downloaded the file 100% Someone has to be a seeder in order for other people to download that file. Leechers are people who are downloading. Any more questions I'll try to answer
