the first 3d game for the megadrive was Virtua racing but in order to play it you need a 3DGC (3D Game Compression) game board... does any one know of a way to identify the chip on the board

i have about 12 Megadrive 1's in my house but surely one of them must be able to play the game

    thanks in advance

They all should have it.. Nothing listed about different hardware capabilities on the game devs sites anyway. I doubt sega would change the hardware half way through production of a console rendering all older versions incapable of playing a certain game.. That makes no sense, more likely your cart needs a good blowing ;)

on wiki it says that the 3d chip was implemented after the 32x was implemented,
roughly october 1992 4 yrs after the first was made...

so im still a bit confused.... your correct to say that but its just odd that they would change half way through....

as it was an aim to beat the turbografx, my guess they wanted to implement some 3D action for those who couldnt afford the 32x and game

who knows?... thanks anyway varnull :)
