I have Nero 6.1.1.4 and I want to know how to select a slower speed than the choices given from the burn menu. I push the burn button and on 16x media I am given three choices. 8x, 12x, and 16x. I want to use 4x but I don't know how to manually select this speed. Can anyone help me?
Make sure that you have a blank disc in the drive when selecting your burn speed. Give the drive a chance to spin up and read the MID of the disc so the program will know what speeds are supported by your blank media. Then you should be given a wider range of burn speeds to choose from. BTW, 8X should work just fine with those 16X discs, it is recommended not to exceed half the rated speed of the blank. Also make sure that your firmware is up to date.
If you meant you have 6.6.1.4 then you have a "buggy" version of Nero. Uninstall, run this clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html and then install this older stable version, both packages http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe Package 2 http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe You should burn at no more than half the rated speed of your disc, so 16X speed disc burnt at max 8X etc.
