i have windows pro sp2. when i restart my computer it takes forever to start booting up, if it boots up at all. it stays black for a while, then i can start hearing my harddrive restart itself i'm guessing... after i do a hard shutdown, it'll do the samew thing but boot up perfectly with all my progs running great, but now i have a 2nd harddrive also, but now it isn't showing up. the master hd is not even a month old. would i need to just reinstall windows?

This is a guess from my own experiences.

You may have a hardware issue. A bad harddrive, PCI card, or even Laser device (CDROM, DVD).

Cure: strip to bare necessity and add each device one at a time and reboot twice between devices until you isolate the device that causes it. Add OS to other harddrive to isolate original harddrive.

    Double check pinniing and cables.

    GOOD LUCK

oh ya about your hard drive that doesnt show up...once your computer is running fine run the installation disc that came with it. One thing if it doesnt show up in windows but it may be defective if it doesnt show up while computer is booting (black screen) and doing an "auto detecting devices"

ok i just rebooted and now it's running fine. still don't know what the prob is. i might end up getting new ide cables.

i'm not sure why the drive didn't show up but once i rebooted it worked again, and it didn't even freeze up and keep restartin itself.

if i made an image of my drive somehow, should i just format and run the image after i reinstall because i have alot of music projects that i on't wanna lose
