I'm sure this question has been answered in many different ways but I am looking for assistance again. I have Nero 7.10.1 installed on my PC and it has been working fine UNTIL about 4 days ago now every time I try to burn a DVD I get a variety of problems. Sometimes the burn process will go all the way through for an AVI to DVD conversion and then I get the Burn Process Failed message (I hate that message!). I have tried reburning the file, checking to see that DMA is enabled, run Roxio Zap (as I used Roxio EONS ago), updated Nero to 7.10.1.2, uninstalled and reinstalled Nero, changed DVD-R to Maxell and cleaned the DVDRW drive. The only thing I have not attempted is updating my firmware. I am using a Sony DVD RW G120A and am unsure where to get a good firmware update or if this will even work. I just got the DVD RW about 6 months ago and while I have used it pretty regulariy I have not burned 100s of DVD's or anything. I have compared my log files to those of others posted here and I have enough free disk space, the drive recognizes the disks the only thing I have noted is that it say Burn at once FAILED. I have disabled the burn at once and have slowed the speed and we'll see what happens (fingers crossed). Can anyone offer any other suggestions on how to fix this or is my DVD RW pooched? I also have another problem which makes me think the problem lies with Nero 7 and not the hardware. When I set up a DVD for burning and preview the file on Nero (after I have added the title and such) there is no sound; but when I use VLC or NeroShowtime to preview the AVI file the sound is perfect. Any ideas whats going? I recently installed Quicktime on my PC and thought that might be working against NERO so I uninstalled it and it hasn't fixed the problem. The thing is it is only select files that have no audio on Nero, others preview with no problems???. Thanks in advance for all your help!
See the problem is that the problem with the preview mode has just started (around the time that everything else went haywire). The link that you posted, is that the firmware for my DVD RW? I'm nervous about installing the firmware cause I've heard that if things aren't right it can fry your DVD RW. Is this true or am I out in left field?
have you a nero log file to paste here? (around the time that everything else went haywire). <---- explain pls? http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2246 <--- link above was wrong! this one is ok yes updating firmware is at yout own risk, could go to actual makers website of the drive and get firmware there too. i update all my 4x drives!
