Hey I have a v4 ps2 with a matrix infinty chip, and latley my backups just haven't been working I just keep getting disk read error,so i immediatly thought its gotta be my lasers gone cos is getting old but when I put my original games in they work but they don't automatcaly boot up i have to go to the browser screen, so then i thought it could not be reading my backups because there Dvd disks but the ps2 plays my original Grand theft auto game which is a DVD disk, so I was just thinking of buying a new ps2 like a v10 one or maybe the new slim one (anyone know if you can mod this yet) but has anyone got any suggestions on what i should do, also sometimes when i try and play the backup it can make some funny nosies. 1 more thing as well is that i know the backups do work because sometimes when i put some in they work but they don' boot up automatically but they work, and if they do load up they either have trouble loading slow or its jumpy, but i was just thinking of defintally getting a new ps2 and just getting another chip put in or just getting my xbox chipped which would be cheaper, but wot do you guys think. And please please answer.Helpppppp
Hmm some people do have the same problem as you have with the same mod chip. Unfortunately, I don't know if I can help you. But I think the new slim PSTwo does not support modchips so far but you can take a wild guess that there will be a mod chip for those models. As for the xbox, mod it unless you play xbox live which is why I did not mod my xbox. But anyways you may have a faulty chip. But for you, the cheapest way to go is modding the xbox.
So you rekon if I buy a new ps2 like a v10 or something the games will work, cos im just thinking its my laser in the v4 thats just messed up so its finding it hard to read the disks, so i buy a new ps2 then the laser should have know problems. Thanks
There are chips that work with the new slim PStwo. I've been looking into it and found that the DMS works with it. Its version 12 I think. My old ps2 is getting DRE on some movie dvds and was thinking of upgrading to one of the little PStwos. The chips are retailing at about 50 quid with about 20 solders needed.
