Ok, My comp is screwed the fock up. One day the monitor goes to sleep and it DOESN'T WAKE UP.

I have no video at all. When I turn it on all the fans power up but the monitor doesn't get any video.. A couple times it did start a little and show the mbd startup stuff but then it went away. I think the computer is still starting but it's just not sending out any video.

I've checked the HDD, DVD drives, Video card, and the monitor and all the cables I can check. I think it's either the mbd, processor or psu. I don't have any idea what's wrong with it. I've done everything to fix it but it's not working. I just don't get it.. I can't figure out what's wrong.
    Anyone got any ideas?

    Yea I forgot to write..

    Asus A8N32SLI-Deluxe
    AMD X2 4400+
    Ampo 1 gig 1 stick
    Leadtek 7900GS video..

And everything had worked previously.. it just died on me. I don't know what I did to make it do it.

well, if you're not even seeing the bios startup screen, we can be fairly sure it's not *just* the hard drives. have you tried the video card in another computer? or a new video card in that one? reset your CMOS and double-check all your jumper configurations. it could even be a lose monitor connection--speaking of which, try your monitor on another compie and try another monitor on that one.

I reset the CMOS, havn't checked all the jumpers

I tried a diff card that worked in another comp, and it didn't work, tried two monitors both worked with comp2 and didn't work with broken comp. Tried different cables and everything. Right now i'm using the video card I tried and the monitor and cables and I have no problems at all.. I think it's the memory, cpu, or mbd but I just can't figure it out.

You know what I had the exact same problem 2 weeks ago. Turns out it was my cpu that died. But what caused my cpu to die was the psu putting out to much voltage (I think). My motherboard was damage as well. That really threw me off because it still powered up. Decided to get a new processor, psu and motherboard. Fixed that right up. Not sure if that's your problem. You would have to narrow it down.

well, then the next thing to do is try different ram. then try a different processor. i'm suspecting that the motherboard is shot. if you planned to upgrade in the future, this would be a good time, i think.

I thought it was the mbd too... I mean nothing is physically wrong with anything and theres no video coming even from a working video card so... I just have no way to check if it's the cpu or mbd... The memory worked before so I don't know why it would just stop working

if you picked up a cheapie mobo that is compatible with your proc, that would be a good way to test it; you could probably return it if the proc was okay and you needed a good board; if it doesn't work, it's probably the proc.

I'll try returning the mbd and if that doesn't fix it I can try the processor.
