When I try to update a session previously burned with Nero (continue multissesion disc), Nero crashes after I click on "OK" in the Select Track window. An “internal error” or “error in parameter” message appears.

The disc was burned without errors in the same CD-RW drive, can be read without problems and of course it is not finalized.

This happens with versions 7.0.8.0 or 7.2.3.2b, with either the “refresh compilation” option selected or not.

But if I use 6.6.0.18 there is not any problem, the session can be refreshed and no error message appears.

The only thing that may be “special” about this disc is that when I burned it I included some folders from another CD, and some from the hard disk. But this is a simple process which I have done many times before with Nero 6.x. It seems it is a problem with v. 7.x.

I just did a 3 session cd. Just check my steps.

Started Nero Burning ROM. Selected New, chose CD-ROM(iso) and "start multisession" Burned some files. OK so far. Never saved the compliation.

Restarted Nero--inserted the cd and previous files showed as grayed out. Selected New and chose "Continue Multisession". Select track dialogue box came up and I just hit OK. Still no problems. I have tried selecting different tracks and it seems OK.

By the third session the "continue Multi-session" was selected, but grayed out. Selected track and hit OK with no problems.

Since the process appears to work on my setup, I would have to guess either there is something about the files you are using, or maybe something from Nero 6 (like a plug-in) is still around causing problems. I am assuming of course, that you have room on the CD for more files.

If there is something different about my process from yours, post back what it is.

My explanation was not clear. The problem, described step by step, is this:

1.Insert a data CD in the optical drive.
2.Start Nero Burning ROM 7 (7.0.8.2 or 7.2.3.2b). Select Start multissesion disc.
3.Create a compilation including some files from the CD (do no copy the files from the CD to the hard disk). Include also some files from the hard disk.
4.Retire the CD and insert a blank disc.
    5.Burn the compilation.
6.Close Nero. Keep the burned CD in the same drive.
7.Open Nero to continue the multissesion disc.
8.Either select "Refresh compilation..." or not.
9.Select the track previously burned. Click OK.
    10.Nero 7 crashes. Nero 6 works OK.
A fairly simple and basic process in which Nero 7 fails.

    My best guess right now:

On my system, if you go to Edit-Properties, then under the Multisession tab look at Options, the "Refresh compliation when importing session" box is not checked in my setup. Perhaps, since some of the files are not available because they are on a different CD, Nero can't find them to refresh. If you have that box checked, try unchecking it. There is a long explanation of this in the Nero Burning ROM Help file.

Even though you may select not to to refresh, Nero may have already started the process. Otherwise, I just followed your exact procedure and it seems to work OK for me. Please understand, I am not doubting your experience, but maybe there is a setting that would account for it.
