I jusr bought a new pioneer DVR-111D oem drive for my power mac G4 MDD. Installed internally and set to cable selec,t it is replacing a DVR-108 which I had no problem setting up. Any way my understanding is when you insert a movie I tryed "The Lake House" which was a region 1 movie you should get a box that appears asking you to set your region. well all my drive did was make some funny clicking noises then spit out the disk. I repaired prefs reset pram but it keeps on doing the same thing. also checked to make sure everything was tight on back of drive. Is there anything else I should try.
If this is your only drive, then why is it set to cable select? Shouldn't it be set to master... However, I do not own a Mac or have much experience with them, so I could be wrong... **Requested Move to appropriate Forum**
The G4 MDD has two optic drive bays the new pioneer drive is in the upper bay, and the stock drive is in the lower bay.
Bays are irrelevant... You want to be looking at the jumpers... See this guide and set your Pioneer to Master and your Stock to slave. http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/Jumper Settings for your Drive.pdf See if that helps.
OK, I will set it to master. The only reason I set it to cable select is that the stock drive came with that setting, but that is now sitting in the lower bay. Will report backand let you know what happens, but I would also like to mention that the drive did show up in system profiler with no problems.
OK, I tried the master jumper setting and it does the same thing. Is thier anything else I should try. I'm thinking that I may have a defective drive.
Yeah, I am starting to thikn you may have a defective drive too. Sorry. Is it still under warranty? If so wring up and get it exchanged!
