set up 2 dvd r/w ?

    I HAVE a 8x dvd r/w + a cd burner. ijust got a new16x r/w and to replace the cd rw with that,, ? what is the best way to set them up , master&slave or cable select,T hanks for any help you can give me . XBILL

    Either should be OK but I personally prefer master and slave settings using of course the right cable along with that combo.

    So here mention that Dell PC's like C/S better.

    I have 3 computers and each has 2 DVD writers with all set to 'master'

    Are the 2 burners set as master on the same cable?

    It'd have to be two separate cords right? Otherwise you'd have a bus conflict due to the fact that each one has the same priority......

    I could be off here :)

    all 3 computers have tham on the same cable and all are set to 'master' ... no conflicts, no issues

    Thanks Scuba for the reference to clarify two burners on one channel:
    "If you are using two drives on a channel, it is important to ensure that they are jumpered correctly. Making both drives the master, or both the slave, will likely result in a very confused system."
    I thought that there has to be a master ans slave type setup.
