I have two laptops. One is an old Toshiba and One is a Much newer Dell.
How do I set up a network drive so I can share files from the Toshiba to the Dell?

I'm sure it's going to involve at least a router and the use of folder sharing.

    1. Yes you need a router/switch, wired or wifi
    2. Both computers in the same workgroup.
    3. Turn on sharing for any folder you want to share. Share with everyone
    4. Check security, make sure the group everyone is on the list. If it isn't add it and give it the permissions you desire.

The methods on how to do these are a bit different between the 2 OS, but the overall idea remains the same. If any questions, google the question + OS (XP or Win7) and you should be golden.

    Hi Deadrum,

could you help me with this situation, im trying to joint a domain controller but i cannot and im getting this message,The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate an Active Directory Domain Controller (AD DC) for domain "compupro.local":

The error was: "DNS name does not exist."
    (error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR)

The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.compupro.local

Common causes of this error include the following:

    - The DNS SRV records required to locate a AD DC for the domain are not registered in DNS. These records are registered with a DNS server automatically when a AD DC is added to a domain. They are updated by the AD DC at set intervals. This computer is configured to use DNS servers with the following IP addresses:

    192.168.1.1

    - One or more of the following zones do not include delegation to its child zone:

    compupro.local
    local
    . (the root zone)

    Thanks

mks2001, start your own thread as hijacking another member's thread is a forum rule no no.
