I remember doing this before, but now the dvd's that I am burning are not showing that they have been booktyped in the status field(when I burn) I then tried the "choose recorder" option to enable my booktype but it is not there. How do I do this? I have a hp 640c dvd writer(manufactured by benq I believe) Can anyone tell me how I can booktype? (I am using dvd+R discs...lol)
If your drive is either a BenQ or might even be a LiteOn (they can use a few manufacturer's) try here in Nero (have the blank inserted 1st): Nero ToolKit>CD-DVD Speed >Extra>Bitsetting. You may have to do this every time to booktype w/ Nero. I do even with an oem Liteon.
Those drives are supposed to support bitsetting for DVD+R media. If the option is greyed out, there may be a problem. Have you reflashed the drive with new firmware? In some instances, there was a limit on how many it could change, but the disk info should show if that might be the case. I guess you are saying if you run DVD Speed, under the Extra menu, there is no bitsetting option? My only suggestions would be to check the firmware and maybe update. Perhaps reinstall Nero in case it did not pick up the drive correctly. Make sure you aren't using DVD -R discs.
@borat187 Which version of Nero are you using? Like 6.6.0.18. You may just need to update Nero for that option in cd-dvd speed.
