Guys, I need some serious help pronto! Just bought an AMD 9650 Quad-core, 7gb ram, nvidia geforce 6150 SE gcard (supposedly no good!) with Vista 64-bit. Am trying to run both Call of Duty 4 and Counter Strike: Source. Each is only getting around 20 fps. Turned aero off, ran windows update, checked each games compatibility, updated drivers! Not sure what else to do to get optimum gameplay. Any help is needed.. i think i'm having trouble because it's a mobo video card... Thanks
Hi yzman52 You answered your own question. To play games like cod4 you need a video card with some cojones.
I found this for you...I quoted because I didn't see the reason in putting the whole webpage link in here. Had some useless information as well. "3DMark is a graphics benchmarking tool made by Futuremark ( www.futuremark.org ) If you look at the Anandtech article, you'll see the 6150 SE has a 3DMark05 (as in 2005) score of 585. The 3DMark05 score on the system I use is 12,056, which is an Nvidia 8800 GT. That's nowhere near the top of the performance list, but it's decent. Crysis still brings my system to its knees on anything over the medium settings. It runs Half Life 2 and COD4 pretty well. I don't think the 6150 SE stands a chance. Other benchmarks are showing < 30 Frames Per Second (FPS) for some popular games - even 10-11 FPS. That's unplayable" In other words, as he said, the graphics card you have right now doesn't stand a chance with the games today. Maybe back in 2005-2006 is could of stood a chance. But in the time frame of 3-4 years now, the card is not worth anything anymore. Upgrade your graphics card if you really want to play games like CoD4/CoD5 and so on. The 6150SE is a horrifying "graphics card", i'm amazed you even get 20fps. What power supply and case do you have? Or, if it's a prebuilt PC, what is it and who makes it?
hey guys thanks a lot for all your input.. i just bought the pc 2 days ago, pre-built HP. Will be returning it unless they make me a great deal on another video card because other than gaming it's a nice system. Thanks again for the help, this was my first time visiting this site.
Cheap prebuilt PCs never have half decent graphics cards, you will find yourself paying a substantial amount more for a decent PC. If you're after a reasonably priced gaming prebuild, I'd suggest something like a Dell XPS 420.
You could probably get away with putting an 8600GT in it without any further upgrades. Thats not a bad card for the casual gamer.
Yep and probably around the same price? I have a habit of recommending nvidia cards as it's all I know. Seems the ATI's are giving more bang for buck these days.
