Hello, I got one used Xbox with perfect looking Controller S and 2 logitech controllers that look they have lived their age. I plug in the Controller S and it won't work, I plug the logitech controllers and both of them work. So, what is wrong with my Controller S and can it be fixed? Cord looks undamaged and so do outerior and interior of the controller(I have it opened)

Replace the breakaway cable and it should work fine. I had this problem, the breakaway cable was at fault.

Tested breakaway cable with another controller and tested another breakaway cable with this one, no luck. The other ones work with both breakaways but this doesn't. I also tried one desperate way to see if teh cord is broken I plugged the controller in and told my friend to keep tapping start while I twitched the cord on every spot, didn't work.

Go swap it at Gamestop if you're in the US or open it up and see if a cable came loose. If you got a multimeter test each pin and its corresponding wire inside the controller.

I am on Finland, but we do have Gamestop's here too and there are Xbox controllers. I was just hoping I could fix this since it really looks like new and clean. Even from the inside everything looks on place.

One of the wires probably broke from somewhere in the middle of the cord. I've attempted to fix PS2 controllers where this happened and I was successfully but the cord looked like a mess. If you really want you can swap at Gamestop and keep your original case.
