Surely this should be in the "file sharing applications" section? Actually no...it's not a question....so Safety Valve under General Discussion would have been a better place for this. But in response to your request, I assume you are refering to the increasing number of hit and runs on torrent sites. This is largely due to people becoming scared of 'seeding' since the states made their law changes - "up to 10 years for making a film available for download before its official release date" Depending on where you get torrents from tho, some sites expect you to maintain a certain ratio of seeding to leeching. Leechers will be removed from this type of site as they are not sticking to the terms and conditions they agreed to at signup. Further pressure on the P2P user from the 784 file sharers http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/6591.cfm that the RIAA went after when they (MGM) didnt get the decision they wanted from the supreme court. http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/6571.cfm But I would think 'the scene' is going to see a dramatic drop in the number of torrents made available after the raid on release groups last week http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4640439.stm But this was always going to happen. As many news articles have highlighted, the aquisition of copyright protected materials over P2P has become mainstream. Seen by many as acceptable, or even the norm. It was only a matter of time before such complacency came back to bite. Many new laws are changing the way people view P2P. Authorities are keen to see that these new laws are enforced. The internet is no longer the place is was 15-20 years ago. commercial greed and exploitation such as P2P are rife. So will greed and self preservation (human nature) kill 'the scene', only time will tell.
...not likely, where there is will, there will be a way... ...not really, it started as a place to plunder, and will remain a place to plunder... My Quote: Hello, wake up, as long as there is something to download, there will always be something to download... ... unless of course we get WORLD POLICE... ...Ahem... Weycraze He,He,He,He....etc. et.al. Happy may be the electrons that come your way! 1110111010101
