Has anyone copied Shawshank Redemption, I Have copied numerious DVD's before and after i tried to copy this one and cannot figure out how to copy this one. I tried 1click along with dvd43 and clone DVD along with AnyDVD (still states that movie is copyrighted) , DVD decrypter then buring wih CloneDVD or Nero, freezes midway through. Also used shrink in the process as well to try and copy. I pretty much tried all possible ways in http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/guides.htm guide page, and still having no success. Has any more advanced person than i been able to copy this DVD?

The challenge is out there, Can anyone copy this DVD? I see HITCH was no trouble for some people but how bout this movie ?

I own both the earlier Region 1 of this film, and also the one which was just recently released (the 2 disc Special Edition, I think it was called). And, I had no problems at all backing them up.

On the earlier one, I used DVDShrink (although I am certain that DVDDecrypter would have worked fine, as well, to rip.)

On the more recent one, I decided to splurge and did a dual layer backup. Thus, I used DVDDecrypter. If I had chosen to try to compress the discs, I could have used DVDShrink, again.

I am confused about a few things, based on your original post.

    You wrote:

Midway, through the rip? Or, midway through the burn? You write that you were burning with Clone DVD and Nero. Does this mean that your rip was already successful?

So, is this midway through a RIP or midway through a BURN?

    You also wrote:

    >>>Also used shrink in the process as well to try and copy.<<<

Does this mean you tried to use DVDShrink to rip from the disc, or that you used it to try to compress the ripped version (from a hard drive) that you had already ripped using DVDDecrypter?

With little information to go on, I can only guess why you might be having problems. Right now, though, I suspect a dirty disc, or a scratched disc, or one with smudges, etc. Have you tried to clean it?

Can you perhaps post the exact error messages you are getting, with clear delineation of methods tried?

Have you tried just using DVDShrink to rip it, with nothing else running? Did this work?

Have you tried using just DVDDecrypter to rip it, with nothing else running? Did this work?

This is just a regular Warner Bros. DVD. It is not a Sony or Columbia or Tristar, it does not have ArCCos copy protection or anything special on it.

well lets see if i can answer all your intelligent ?'s correctly. For the past 2 months i have just being using 1clickDVD and DVD43 and that has been working with everything, until this DVD came along, lol.

DVD Decrypter, seems it decryptes the whole movie ok. Then when i try to use
Clone DVD or nero it freezes during the analyze period i guess u would call it, prior to buring anything onto the disc. I have been using DVD decrypter to rip the DVD then differnt programs to burn onto cd with no luck. 1click with dvd43 and clonedvd with anydvd state that the DVD is still copyrighted. WHich do u believe would be the most stable and most sufficiant way i should copy the DVD. dvd43 and anydvd are not decrypting it.

Tell me the exact process u feel i should take then i will relay all error messages to u, at this point i tried them all as that guide said and sort am confused on what error i got at which time, so i will start from scratch to see if together i can get over this hump. Thank you so much for your time and advice in this matter.

ok like stated earlier, i went through shrink and reauthored somet things then hit backup...it analyzies it i believe it states then at that point it switches over to encoding,{process right before it actually burns to media} it encodes up to about 23% then my whole computer freezes...?

this happens only with this movie.. i just finished burning hitch prior to this one

    hi

well that said its not your setup as hitch worked ok!

i would rip the film again! may be a bad rip to start with! did you rip in file mode or iso mode with dvd decrypter? are you keeping all the film? do you have dvd decrypter set on defaults as from install?

is the film the same region code as the other films? 1 or 2 or whatever? you can set this in DD

did the film start big? so you are doing heavy compression? as dvd shrink doesnt make a good output size on big films, it needs to use deep analysis to make the size correctly!

got any error logs we can look at?

a-ha, now you mention it i think i've seen it in HMV, i just assumed they were plugging the film again, being as it's sooo popular. I got my copy free with my Samsung 807 about 5/6 yrs ago and i don't think i've ever heard anyone say they don't like the film in all that time. i'm not at home now but when i get back i wanna watch the film now!
