Not able to Shrink Main Movie past 98%, This is where i ran the files thru FixVTS, after running thru FixVTS then DVDShrink was able to compress past the 98% mark on the main movie

Or if you like living on the edge, all three boxes checked, no backup, process in place. BTW RipIt4Me will work 1-Click, Full Rip, as long as you remember about the label.

Alright, forget everything I said. Using 4.0.5.0. did allow Shrink to read it (when my old version of FabDVD HD did not - got the 98% problem) but even though Shrink could read it for some reason my backup starts at chapter 9 instead of 1??? I guess FixVTS may still be needed.

i shot everything i had and what you guys had to offer..no luck....what i end up doing later(5 coasters later) was combining some of what was offered..ripped with any dvd, then using shrink, but i went to re-author and selected the first movie title, then i had to use roxio to burn, but it wouldn' burn until i rebooted the computer(still haven't figure that one out)but all and all i got just the movie and that will have to do because i'm tired of messing with it. thanks goes out to you all.

Finally!! This 3:10 To Yuma title has to be one of the more frustrating titles to correctly backup.

Sure, you can get a backup copy burned. But does the main title have Chapter 1? Does it play the chapters in order? Are all the chapters even there? If you think you've already backed it up, you might just check to be sure you it's backedup correctly. I made 3 faulty backups before suceeding. My cookbook method is as follows for the main title only:

First I used DVDFab Platinum 4.05, main movie option, DVD9 size, output to an folder on the Hard Drive. DVDFab then rips the main title of the disc to the the specified output folder.

Then I ran FixVTS (download from AfterDawn if you need it) by first checking the no backup folder box, then dragging and dropping the first VOB in the TS_Video subfolder of my output folder to the input box of FixVTS. Then I checked the fix whole DVD option box and that activated FixVTS to do it's thing, remapping and cleaning up the TS_Video folder in place.

Next I opened Shrink and the navigated to the TS_Folder as the input source. Use shrink to write an ISO output file. I happen to use the Deep analysis and AEC Max Sharpness options for shrinking to get the best transcoding quality. Finally I used ImgBurn to wtite the ISO file from Shrink to a DVD+R at 4X using TY blanks.

Everything was there, chapters in order, and the backup looked really good. Hope this helps someone else with their backups of this title.

I used the DVD fab HD 4.0.5.0 main movie and ripped it. I then used the fixtvs and dragged the VOB file to fixtvs. I then let it process - I did it it a second time to make a second folder. then opened up shrink and found the file from fixtvs. And still the same problem that it is 98 percent and I cant compress. Any other thoughts?

I see that you did the same thing as I did except for writing it to an iso file? did you still see that shrink was in the red??

Update - Finally got it. Had no problem using FabDVD HD 4.0.5.0 using Full Disk. Ran files through FixVTX. Opened Shrink, re-author, drug the movie over only. Took off the end credits. Did deep analysis and hit backup.

Movie no longer starts at chapter 9 and looks in order and fine. Good luck.

what the heck is my problem then? I did the same thing - Let me try it all over again?

well... once opened up in shrink initially - do you still see the red and 98% compression when you bring the main movie over to re-author?

using the anydvd ripper should work

    or

use the latest version of dvdfab decrypter download here

    http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm

ripping the movie only then (important) run the file though fixvts after that dvd shrink should transcode it fine

If you are using AnyDVD, do not also use DVDFab (DVDFab and AnyDVD are not meant to use with each other. Use one or the other but not both). Just use AnyDVD's option to rip to hard drive. Then use DVD Shrink and locate the VIDEO_TS folder on the hard drive you just ripped to and that's it.

I do that, and when I use Shrink, it still shows a 6.5GB iso that it will create once its done. Any idea why?

In your post you said you use AnyDVD AND DVDFab (I assumed you were ripping with DVDFab with AnyDVD running). Either don't use DVDFab at all and use AnyDVD to rip to hard drive. If you are using the lastest AnyDVD, you can then open that rip (on the hard drive) with DVD shrink and it will then process it with no issues.

If you want to use DVDFab instead, TURN ANYDVD OFF FIRST, then use DVDFab to rip. When the rip is done, close DVDFab then open FixVTS and process the entire rip with it (leave the "process in place" box checked). Then open the result with DVD Shrink.

Either method works. DVDFab (current 4.0.5.0) needs FixVTS to use with DVD Shrink. AnyDVD (rip to hard drive) does not.

3:10 to Yuma did fine for me with RI4M, but I got "FAILED TO LOAD IFO'S" for "Rush Hour 3" and "Shoot 'Em Up". It took me a while to find this thread and I could use some help and direction, to say the least. My computer came bundled with DVDFab Platinum 2 years ago. I seldom used it as I have been using DVDDC and DVDShrink(plus Scuba Pete's Guides)before and after DVDFABPLATN, then started using RI4M(installed as AIO) a year ago, exclusively. Should I uninstall any or all the above if I elect to install AnyDVD, DVDFAB(any partcular version?)? I definitley want to minimize or prevent system conflicts. As a matter of fact, a friend of mine, who has no on-line access, who I directed to RI4M, is also encountering the same issues with the same 2 movies(to start with). As he and his wife are in the boonies and are lacking over the air or cable access, movies have been their source of entertainment. I'm going to have to relay your input and downloads via mail, as simply as possible. Thank you for your help and patience.

TRAVELMGR, ripit4me was pulled by the man so no more updates thats why it having problems with some newer movies. having dvdfab decrypter or platinum and anydvd on the same machine is fine as long as you disable anydvd while your using dvdfab decrypter or platinum. heres all the info you need to backup the new releases

    ********FREEWARE***********

    1. dvdfab decrypter to rip dvd shrink to transcode(sometimes you will need to use FixVTS or VOB Blanker to clean the file before transcoding with dvd shrink) then nero, imgburn or dvd decrypter to burn.
