I am in the market for a Pioneer 107. I was all set to order one but now I read about Sony's annoucement and I'm wondering should I wait for the Dual layered unit to come out or go ahead and get the 107 now? Also, I read about a new protection being developed. Does that mean the days of being able to back up my DVDs are going to come to an end and the new ones I get in the future are going to be unable to be backed up? I know at some point that will probably be true but I would like to think a drive I get now will be able to be used for at least a while (a few years).

    nflp,

I suggest you make up your own mind.

It's easy to do - read and then decide, you can't go through life having others make your decisions for you -

Come on back if you need help when you really begin burning -

There are reports that the 107 will be dual layer compatible via a flash firmware upgrade (apparently).
