should I get a 360?

at first I was leaning towards a Wii but then I heard about how weak it was, with only a 900mhz processor and 64MB of ram. I know game play is more important than graphics but the wii is redicuously underpowered. I still want to play brawl and twilight princess but Im a bit hesitant to pay $250 for a console thats weaker than computers its own price. should I still go with Wii or should I get a 360? I wont be able to pay $600 for a PS3 so I wont consider that for a while. Either way, the main platform I play on will be PC.

Its all down to personal preference with what games you like aswell as the style of game, the features of the console and what you would mainly use your console for.

I myself own a 360, I was looking at buying th PS3 when I first saw it at E3 but I then found the 360 to be the better choice mainly becasue of the games being released on the system.

My brother is purchasing the Wii on its release date here in Australia on the 7th of December. I have watched and learned alot about it with him. It seems a good console and like you said its down to the games not really the power.

If you like you can ask myself or anyone else here, any questions you may have on either console which may help to decide on which console to buy.

The 360 is really good, I have suggested it to everyone who asks me, I however am also going to buy a wii(got fun games) If I had to choose between the 2 I would go for the 360.

I will never give up my 360 but I am picking up a Wii also just because it does have more games for kids. It would keep my kids away from my 360.

Very good question. There isn’t much information on halo wars as of yet especially with the control system. I know it will also be a PC release and I myself would rather have a RTS on the PC rather than a console.

However normally an RTS on a console has a bad control mechanism compared to the PC, due to the PC's accurate, fast paced, very manoeuvrable mouse compared to the less accurate, slow paced, analogue joystick of a game controller. There is however one good exception to this rule and that is The Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth II. They managed to construct a system where by all you need to use are the two thumb sticks, the two triggers, and the A button. The actual thumb sticks will control the cursor and camera with the A button letting you select a unit which changes to an attack symbol if placed over the enemy, so all you need to do is hit A. The left and right triggers let you select military units on screen if held down in conjunction with A and the right trigger call's up the order menu. I have played it and is very simple and easy to use.

So if Halo Wars uses a system similar to this then we could see a very enjoyable and playable RTS on the Xbox 360.

really? I have BFME 2 for pc and its great but I played a demo at gamestop of the 360 one and I didn't like it at all. the graphics wern't very good and the cursor being locked in the center of the screen felt wierd.

Yes, I do know what you mean. However I have played it on a nice 32" high definition TV and it seemed quite nice in terms of graphics, on a standerd definition tv (if thats what you played it on) it would look quite bad.

If i remember correctly I think there was an option to get rid of that function with the cursor in the middle of the screen. Sorry my memory isnt fully up to scratch and it was a while since I played it on my friends xbox 360.

However like yourself I still prefer an RTS on the PC rather than a console but it was a good effort to improvise with the control mechanism of a game controler. Maybe the Wii controler would be ok for an RTS, it certainly seems like it has the potential to be good in a RTS but unfortunalty Halo Wars will not be coming to the Wii.

My advise is to do as I will do and purchase Halo Wars for the PC rather than the 360. If there are any more questions you have with the 360 or Wii I will be happy to answer them. I have a bit of spare time on my hands, lol.

Weaker than a pc of that price?

Where in the hell are you gonna find a PC for 250? Let alone one that will have a Decent Graphics card (which the Wii still has compared to a budget pc).

In regards to a 360 I would recommend it I have one and I'm loving the zombie killing haha, plus I get Gears of War next Thursday.

I'm waiting till Metroid Prime 3 comes out (I live in Australia the cursed gaming region) then I will buy a Wii.

Actually, theres a $100 rebate avaible for both the xbox 360 core and premium if your on a budget. But its only at a limited # of stores and ends of dec.3 I personally was deciding between the wii and the 360, and this was a godo deal for me ( and ofcrouse GoW made me drewl) :D

Just make sure to check if theres a retailer in your area because theres only 19 of those stores in the US.

holy crap, thank alot for telling me about that! Ill make sure to get one! one question: if I wanted to play normal xbox games, I know the premium has emulators on its hard drive to do so. would I have to pay $100 for the hard drive or could I put in any other 2.5 sata hard drive and download the emulators? and do you think this will be something where it will be gone within seconds?

I read a guide about upgrading 360's hard drive and it says I need to clone the 20GB on to another hard drive using something like norton ghost. is there anyway to use a hard drive (ie: through a router, or externally) and play original xbox games without paying the rediculous price of $100 for the 20GB one?

I looked through the list of original games that work on it and decided that there arn't really any worthwhile exclusives to warrent buying the hard drive. 2 questions: can I save games using a usb flash drive or do I need to buy a memory card, and do I need the hard drive at all for playing backups?

im not really an expert on the 360's HDD (actaully i currently dont own a 360... goign to wait till like thanksgiving ro sometinhg... who knows, better deals may come along by black friday ahah). but im pretty sure you CANT replace the 360's 20gig hard drive with ur own (yeah i know it sucks). HOWEVER, it is rumored microsoft will be realeasing a new hard drive for the 360. somme say itll be 70gig or even 100gig, noonw knows for sure. but im pretty sure one will be released in the near future, perhaps in time for the holidays.

yeah , what jbone said. plus u need the hard drive to play original xbox games too.

well, Ive never been interested in downloadable videos or arcade games (especialy arcade games that cost money), I use my ds for music, the majority of games on the compatibility list are either multiplatform or not worth playing and I dont think the ability to play demos is worth $100, as if I really wanted to play a certain demo, Id do so at my local department store, so I need to know if I can save games onto a flash drive and if I need a hard drive to play back ups
