Right now I have a V4 PS2. It hasn't given me any problems yet, but don't the V4's have faulty lasers that "burn out"? If my Ps2 does "burn out", how much does it typically cost for replacement parts? New DVD features in the newer models don't matter to me much as most likely I'll rarely use it to watch DVD's. Any other reason to get a newer model? Thanks!
They also have much better lasers. But if your current system is not giving you problems then why buy another one? If your laser does give out you can buy a new one for about $35-$40 and its not too hard to install either. I say mod that V4. Or to save money trade it in on a new one.
