Here's the thing...I bought my modded Xbox 360 from a someone who lives rather far. So clearly I have no idea how to flash, mod, etc. Is it easy to update to 1.6 or does it require you to take apart the console? (Sorry, I am very clueless! ) Now, what's even more important for me to know is if I SHOULD update. I had my 360 for 1/2 a year but because summer's here I can finally get LIVE and play online. I also bought stealth-patched games from the same seller. I want to know if MS can detect stealth-patched games with 1.5, and whether the 1.6 makes online safer. One more thing...I never joined LIVE. But I heard that there's some NXE update that people with LIVE get. I don't know much about this update, but should I avoid NXE?
Yes, you have to take off the case. Well, since you only have old games that don't have the new 3rd wave, no, you don't need to update. However, if you do plan on getting new games as like anything that has come out since March, you will need the update. Honestly, no, you aren't any safer with 1.6 since we don't know exactly what MS looks for to detect burnt games. And the NXE will not harm your ability to play at all and I'm pretty sure you need it to get on Live anyway, so get it.
Thanks for the quick reply 360lifer. So, if I buy stealth-patched, burned games that are coming up soon, like in the fall of 2009 for example, they will NOT work on my iXtreme1.5 Xbox 360, correct? And that's when I need to update to 1.6? I'll try to looks for threads that explain how to update to 1.6, but if you know of any good ones, please let me know! Thanks
Correct, any game coming out now or in the future will require at least 1.51. I don't use any threads for my own use as I got my own method.
