Hi guy's, maybe you can give me a little info on this...

Basically a family member moved into a new apartment in Sandyford and is getting hooked up with N*L on Tuesday. Now, their next door neighbour has got hooked up with N*L yesterday and their box is a U*C box. Now I'm about to purchase a Strview 3 for the person in question, will/should it work in the new apartment even if they are given one of these new U*C boxes ? I'm not that savvy when it comes to these boxes and with all the talk of the Nagra 2 ect.. I just wanted to find out a bit of info before I order the box.

    Cheers

That's would be stretching the budget a bit :D

I find the starview 3 really good. I'm using both replay lite and Starview 3 and me personally find the Starview much better, only my opinion though.

Buy yeah, just a little confused with sifting through some of the threads so just tryin to confirm if the box will work in this new apartment. I guess it will but I alway's like the opinions of the experts :)

It will if the signal is not degraded too much. For apartments the cables usually go to a splitter box. But for a new apartment in that area you should be fine.

Yes an SV3 is fine as is a Eurovox and a multitude of other boxes. SV4 and EX5000 give you the option of recording.

I watched the highlights and yeah it wasn't a bad game, unfortunately I couldn't watch it at my leisure unless I downloaded it and the wife was hoggin the pc all evening so that was out lol

But when I get out of my personal recession I'll prob grab one, it'll be great I'll be able to record corrie and fair city and eastenders lmao

I havn't used any type of box like this at all, as in any dvd recorder, how stone age is that.Do you know is it possible to record a program and then transfer it to the pc do you know ?

Yes it records in TS format but there are programs in Eamos that allow you to transfer and view recordings on your PC ;)

I would look at the abcom ipbox 900HD, which is the only one that will do your screen justice, pic quality is amazing.

If I had €2,000 to spend I would sooner get a cheaper plasma/LCD & a 900HD, rather than a dearer plasma & a €100 cheapo box. For the same money the 900HD & semi decent TV will probably give a better picture.

No point having a weakest link in your setup. I wouldn't touch anything but a linux based box in dublin too.
