Its unusual this day and time to get a DVD that is not protected in some fashion or another. I purchased a used DVD of Show Me Love, which is a 1999 Swedish movie. I do not know when the disk was pressed, however, it was NEVER babied. Disc was scratched beyond mention, but ANYDVD tells me their are NO protections on this disk, and its available for all regions! Since it was so badly beat up (skipped in several places), I decided to make a backup copy to see if I could get a copy that would not skip.

First several attempts failed miserably. I used some Novus #2 fine plastic rubbing compound and tried again. Still no go, CloneDVD can not finish ripping. Tried again, this time using a little more muscle and the third attempt, SUCCESS! I will just keep the original in its case, and put the copy in my folder with all of my other movies.

The Novus #2 works great for removing scratches from DVDs, mp3 screens, anything that can get FINE scratches on them. Does not do anything for deep scratches, but it can make a "cloudy" mp3 player screen decent after several years worth of scratches.
