I installed the new nero 7.5.1.1 and now when I go to play my movies either from the hard drive or from a store bought dvd I get this error. I tried using the general cleantool to remove and reinstall the version and also previous version, but the error still is there. Can someone please help.

    Thanks

I haven't seen that error, but is there any chance of a region problem? Do you get the error at any particular time or just whenever you insert a DVD?

Can you play .avi for other type of files with ShowTime?

Does ShowTime start automatically when you insert a DVD?

Can you post your Nero log, located here
Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.tx

If NeroShowTime is having problem playing them AVI or DivX files, then it's corrupted. You'll need K-Lite Codec to fix it the codec issue (i.e. install the package on yours system, run/check your AVI file through GSpot or via Configuration).

    Here, it's FREE http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack.htm

I tried loading the codec pack, but that did no good. I can watch movies if I go and open the video_TS file in Nero Home, or if I use a different player than showtime. Is there a tool that can search my registry and remove any and all traces of nero? I have tried the general clean tool and still have the problem. I have tried contacting nero support but get no support there. It worked before I updated to nero 7.5.1.1 and won;t work after I use the clean tool and try and completely remove traces of it and go back to a previous version that worked. or to reinstall 7.5.1.1 Nero showtime just won't play anything at all and just gives me Unexpected DVD Error. I even tried to install nero showtime 2 and get the same error. nothing seems to fix this.

I too had the same problem with Nero. I contacted Nero and they sent me the below email. This fixed the problem for me.

    Dear valued customer,

    thank you for your email.
Possibly we have found a solution for your DVD Problem.
Please copy the attached file to c:/program files/common files/ahead/dsfilter.
Before, rename the old NeDVD.ax file to NeDVD.ax_alt or delete it.
    Please restart your system now.

Should you have any other request, please don't hesitate to contact us again.

    Best regards

I am no longer going to send the NeDVD.ax file to requesters. If you need the file, write to Nero asking for it. I'm sure they will send it to you.
