DVD's certainly seem to be somewhat complex. Hopefully I havent shy'd everyone away from my threads, since I seem to be have been the first to make the recent 'stink'/situation with AnyDVD. But, if you do, I do greatly appreciate it. I've got a DL movie that Shrink encodes with no apparent problems, Nero then burns it. The movie shows just fine in Shrink as well, incase it matters. Ive made two coasters so far.. considering I've never made a coaster with a backup, I figured something must be wrong since its a DL movie. But what? Shrink previews the movie just fine, analyses it just fine and seems to encode it just fine. Then Nero burns the DVD from the encoded files (basically the same thing its done for me successfully everytime for 100+ backups). Just to see if it was something running in the background without my knowledge or some other fluke.. after making the second coaster with the DL movie, I decided to continue making a backup of a movie of mine. No problems what-so-ever. This was done immediately following the second coaster. No reboot, no other changes. Here is the Nero Log, incase it is of any help: [07.01.2006]------------------------------------ 01:11:40 Robot error messages from: ====== *** NeroAPI, History File *** ====== XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXX Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.59, size=160016 bytes, created 12/16/2003 7:18:06 PM Nero API version: 6.3.0.3 Using interface version: 6.3.1.4 Installed in: C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\ Application: ahead\Nero - Burning Rom Recorder: <_NEC DVD_RW ND-3550A> Version: 1.05 - HA 0 TA 2 - 6.3.0.3 Adapter driver: <nvatabus> HA 0 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : via Inquiry data (1) -> ATAPI, detected: ? hi, first of all, even current versions of Nero 6 has trouble burning dual layer, so your old version's got no chance.. and as to scaring ppl off, you haven't. but i know i found one of your replies in the AnyDVD thread a little 'complex'. let's just say i'm a Unix Admin but i keep the TCP/IP stuff at work on to the logfile of that single layer disc... - Nero's too old, latest 6.x version is 6.6.0.18, download "update package 1" from here - http://ww2.nero.com/enu/nero-up.php - firmware's up to date, however see my 2nd from last comment - yup, Nero's too old to recognise your burner, update Nero - DMA needs to be ON, fix via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm However those 'nvatabus' drivers are a pain in the backside; to get DMA on for thse see this link here - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3/231433#1304083 Basically, kurtp21 found the fix in that link; i think this was for 'nvidesm' drivers but as far as i remember it's the same difference, ie to get DMA back on get rid of the nvidia IDE controllers and install standard microsoft drivers - firmware is up to date but the blank discs are newer than the firmware knows what to do with; this is similar to what you should see - - ie a 3line paragraph when the firmware's up to date. your firmware's up to date but not new enough to detect the blank discs you're using. - that's pretty good considering the above problems... ps i've teleported the thread to the Nero forum
Alright, here we go... Nero version is very old, update to current version 6.6.0.18 packets 1 and 2 here: http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php Nero is not recognizing your burner, update could solve this problem. DMA should be enabled on all drives. Here is a guide: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/checking DMA.pdf You've got more than enough memory, but something is using it all up...no multitasking (sound familiar...LOL). Your burner doesn't like your media, and neither does Nero because the MID code is not found...updating Nero could be the cure. Firmware is up to date, but I use the hacked version from here: http://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware/index.html It removes riplock for faster rips and allows for bitsetting. All else looks good, but definately upgrade your Nero and look into the ram issue.
Try using ONES from TX-Software.com. Burns everything I've tried. You get a 30 day free trial and if you do decide to but the full version it's only 20 euros (about £14)
