I have some xvids that I wish to backup to DVD (for storage not playback) and I am 40meg over the size of the dvd.

All of them have been made using nandub i believe (virtualdub complains of vbr encoding) and every reencode I have done has failed in both quality and sync.

I have saved 'wav' in vdub and tried reencoding (seems to be crashing pc. tried to reencode with vdub but it complains of not having the decompressor... which is only lame i believe.

Most files are around the 350mb size with one being 700mb in size which is the one i wanted to shrink.

    ** My current method is:

Open - (complains of vbr and sync)
    Save WAV
    Wav Audio (Full Processing Mode)
Fast Recompress (DivX Selected, Slow Speed High Qual)
    Save AVI

Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?

also are there any 'noob' probrams where i can just load the files tell it to compress more and "ta-da!!!" ?
