I am getting an occasional error message when shutting down XP Home it happens at the end of the shutdown process and maybe once in seven shutdowns
it happens so quickly I have no time to note it down and this is not much help but some IT guy actually said it's not uncommon with XP.
I just click OK or whatever and it's sweet.
some kind of memory process cannot be read and some number.
should this be a major concern?
windows XP boots like magic for me and PCs are designed to be on 24/7 but I do prefer to shut mine down.
    ignore it?

I had the same problem several years ago, and I ignored it, and it went away.

It happens once in a while when the computer is busy doing something you don't even know. If it happened every time then it would be something to look into. But if it only happens once in a while that just microsoft for ya.

There are two main problems that may occur during shutdown. A hung app that refuses the let XP shut it down, or a driver error. Usually a driver error will result in a blue screen and an auto reboot. The other, you'll see an "End Program" window pop up.

The end program window is common and not really worth investigating unless it's causing XP to stop at the shutdown screen.

I thought I would cop some flak for a silly post because not enough details but thankyou for the answers and opinions much appreciated.
If it starts happening all the time or hinders XP I will take some action but I'll just tolerate it because it isn't destructive at the moment.
