I've searched around on this forum and a few others and I can't find a clear method on how to back-up my Sims 2 game. I have the original CD's and I want to make copies of them so my sister can play on the other computer at the same time as me.

I also have CloneCD 5.2.0.0 and Alcohol 120% 1.9.2 installed, so those programs should be able to do it.

I've tried copying it with CloneCD but the disc (Disc 1) brings up an error when I try to install it.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Use Alcohol 120% and choose the Safedisc 2/3 profile and read the image of cd 1 at 4x. Chose the Safedisc 2/3 profile and burn RAW DAO at 4x. Reboot pc and play your backup in a cd/dvd-rom. If backup doesn't play then enable 1 virtual stealth drive via Alcohol 120%, minimize to system tray and enable Bad sectors emulation. May work, might not.

thanks for the help, I'll try that now. :)

I've heard CD's 2, 3 and 4 don't have SafeDisc 3.2 on, so how do I backup them up (either with CloneCD or Alcohol 120%) 'cause a few minor scatches are starting to appear on them.

    cheers

edit: the lowest write speed I have is 8x, so I'll try that.
edit 2: so far its 2.4% done in 1 hour 30mins and I've got a stack of 'Disc read' errors. Is this the only way I can backup my game?

It is comon to get disc read errors when reading images of Safedisc newer protection. Be sure when reading the image of The Sims (CD 1) that you have "skip reading errors" enabled.
