Yes, I also bought the $38 Optorite drive being the cheepskate that I am and the drive was doing okay until I uninstalled ME (yuck) and reverted back to Win98. Now the drive will not burn! I have reinstalled Nero burning rom several times and it will burn an "image" but not write onto a CDR. There is no firmware updates which is troubling enough as is. The drive lights flashes when I insert a CDR but it will not run benchmarks with Sandra or anything else. How can I get the drive burning again? -Baffled in Bloomington
for starters, you might want to install ASPI drivers (since it don't come with windows).. http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.html?filekey=aspi32.exe that might make it so that your burning software can recognize your CD burner.. possibly you might need to install the proper driver for windows 9x from the manufacturer if that don't work. ~
