I have a video on my hard drive and I click on properties and it says the size is 983 MB (1,031,700,480 bytes)......When I open Nero Vision and try to make a dvd with it and some other files...it says that this file alone is a little over 3gb...so I can't fit all the stuff on the dvd that I had prepared...When I click on the properties on all the videos for my project together on my hard drive...the total size is 2.64 GB (2,844,360,704 bytes).

Yes, that is how it suppose to be. Any 700MB - 800MB of AVI or DivX can be transcoded and converted into 3GB - 4GB of VIDEO_TS (DVD compliant). Any 4.7 DVD-R or DVD+R can holds up to 4.3GB only.

That being said, if your adding 2 or AVI files to be converted into DVD and it surpass the 4.3GB target, then once Nero Vision is successfully completed, you'll need to have Nero Recoded 2 to transcoded your project so it can fit perfectly into a single 4.7 DVD-R or DVD+R disc.
