I have a handful of DVD's that i'm converting to XviD that when encoded freeze for half a second every 10 frames or so. Audio is perfectly in sync. I've been at this for months, i've tried altering frame rate, and just about every other setting associated with the XviD encoder. The DVD's are ripped with DVD Decryptor, and the ripped VOB files play perfectly until the encoder touches it. I would appreciate any help with this.
Hi MagnumAsh, Not much to go on, we don't know what you are doing... You don't know either, right? (Joke; only joking :^) Not a good plan - unless it is to IVTC a 30fps DVD back to 24fps progressive film. After ripping with DVDDecrypter in IFO mode, that is the next step. I recommend GordianKnot http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/gordian_knot.cfm Sure beats encoding manually with VDubMod... It's a bit tricky (in NTSC-land) to identify your source DVD. It could be 24fps film; or 30fps interlaced. The former is much more likely... but DVDs from video source (true interlaced) are out there; you must be aware. Hope this helps, Regards
Thanks for the reply. I have been ripping the DVD in file mode, so I will try IFO mode. lol, I am new at this, so that may be working against me, lol. Anywho, in case any one is interested, all the DVD's are NTSC and below is the list of films i've been having trouble with: Rock Star Blade Runner (both widescreen and full screen versions) Finding Nemo Freddy vs. Jason (both widescreen and full screen versions) Gladiator Gone in 60 Seconds Hearts In Atlantis Looney Tunes: Back In Action Red Dragon RoboCop
These are all 24fps film (Looney Tunes? dunno). GordianKnot uses an evolution of DVD2AVI by Jackei, now called 'DGIndex', as the first step in ripping to AVI. This is used on VOB files ripped to HD in IFO mode. I quote the well-known instructions here: Press this button to create a DGIndex - project file (.d2v). Press F3 and select the first VOB you just ripped, the following VOBs are selected automatically. Press "OK". Press F5 for a preview, let it run for a while, then press "ESC". If "Framerate" is 29.970 (NTSC) and "Video Type" is FILM at a percentage higher or equal to 95% check "ForceFilm" in "Field Operation", otherwise make sure it is NOT checked. GKnot then opens the VOBs using the D2V file information. After setting up rip (cropping/bitrates etc) it writes AVS script. It then frameserves to VDubMod using AVS script and advanced error-correction capability. Rips are always perfect; perfectly sized, perfectly synch'd, properly done :^) But the first step, determining 24fps or 30fps (interlaced) is very important! L8R
