Hey everyone. I am new here, and not very good with computers. I have been burning DVDs for a year now, and lately my DVD's are constantly skipping. I know it isn't because of scratches, because I just burned one and put it directly into my DVD player and it was immediately skipping. What could be the cause of this?

I bought one of those DVD cleaners with the brushes, and that seemed to make no difference.

The other thing that makes it even more confusing to me, is that my burned discs work perfectly if I watch them on my computer. They just consistently skip on my DVD player, and my PS2 can't read them anymore.

I would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. If that is the case, why did this recently start? I used about 60 of 100 DVDs before I noticed this problem, always at 8X. I can attempt what you suggested, but I don't see why it would still work on my computer if it was simply poor media.

My only other thought was that my DVD player is older, and not the highest quality there is. Are newer DVD players less sensitive, and read discs better than the older ones? I was considering upgrading on that end, but I don't want to spend the money if that isn't the problem.

Blank media, on a spindle, can go bad, just sitting there, especially if it is junk media to begin with.

    What media are you using?

Hmmm.. well, I have Dynex and Memorex.

So, can they only go bad just from sitting there if they are unused? Or used ones as well?

Nah, sitting has nothing to do with that media. It is bad to begin with.

Get some Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden.

Thanks, I will try that. Any thoughts on my question about the DVD players themselves?
