skipping

    hi, i have recently been having some problems with my back ups, maybe 1 out of 10 skip and on the purple side it will have some very dark purple marks like it literally burned the disc what is the problem the burner or the discs? i use lite on and hp dvd-r (i prefer sony dvd-r but my husband bought wrong brand)

    Did these non-working disks ever work?

    It is possible there was some heavy dust or finger smudges on the disk while it was burning. That can cause an abnomal look when looking at the data side (Purple side) of the disk. This would mean that data was not writen in those areas and can cause skipping.

    Another possibility is how it was burned. If something went wrong in the burning process then there could be some bad data on the disk.
