    Hi people,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me whether or not i can put my sky hd box at my missus house where she is currently running sky +. All i know is that they both need 2 connections on the back. Are these the same connections? Does sky need to know, and is there an extra cost? will they let me do it myself?

    Cheers
    Dan

a sky + box has 2 inputs as it has 2 tuners, one for watching tv channels the other for recording a channel while watching an other, the hd box will work in another house,i assume its sky + hd as it also has 2 inputs, just connect up the 2 connections from the dish to your hd box ,they are both the same. only snag being the sky card(if your planing to you use your wifes card in your hd box )you will only get the basic channels, meaning if your wife has the full package of sports and movies and basic channels when her card is used in another box it will only give the basic channels (this happens with all sky cards unless they are paired with the new box)and if she is not paying for hd channels she will need to upgrade if she wants sky hd(if you use your own card with your own box it will work fine). there is no need to tell sky and so no cost, just connect the 2 inputs and of course the scart cable to your hd box and your away.

    Cheers Piopat,

I kinda understand, The problem being is she is part of a multiroom package with the house mates, they have sky+hd with movies and sports downstairs but she only has Sky+ with movies and sports, I have Sky+hd without these packages. My plan is to move my sky+hd box with my card to her house. Does that mean she will lose sports and movies or will i gain movies and sports?

    Sorry to complicate things

if i understand you she has the basic channels plus sports and movies on a sky+ box but she has no hd. you have a hd box but no sports or movies.and you both pay sky for two seperate cards. first off get your wife to phone sky and and tell them she bought a new sky+ hd box and wants to pair her sky card with the new box(make sure the box is connected up before you phone, pairing will only take a few minutes, have your sky card number and account number handy)are they paying for hd multi room if so she will then get the hd channels if not if she wants sky hd channels she will have to pay extra (as they are a seperate package). so are you then taking her box and using your card in it in your house, if so your card should work on the sky+box if you are only paying for the basic channels (but if you want to upgrade to sports etc your card will need to be paired with the box also) if your paying for hd channels on your own card they will not work now on sky+ so you need to cancel them. what pairing is, is sky ask you for your sky card number and your sky box seriel number and put them together in their system(so your card only works in your box and no other, but the cards will work in another box if you only have the basic package,if you have sports etc these channels will be blocked unless you phone sky and have the card and box paired)this is so people who are shall we say paying for multi room with 2 or 3 cards selling the other cards to other people to use in their house else where for a fraction of the price(sky wants every one paying full price). i hope i understood your question and that this helps.
