Hey people, I'm trying to copy some of the things that I've recorded on my sky plus box and was wondering what was the easiest way back it all up onto my laptop and also watch it on my laptop. Any ideas would help loads. Cheers Dan¿
Hi Daniel408, If you purchase a small device such as a 'Grabster AV' for example (I've used this, but I'm sure there are plenty of other similar devices on the market). This will connect to your laptop via USB and you can copy the recorded programs from your sky+ box to your laptop from the scart o/p of the sky+ box. This device can also be used with video cameras, dvd players etc. The Grabster normally comes with software that allows you to edit the footage. The only drawback to this method is that you have to play the film/program on the sky+ box in real time and record on the laptop as it plays. Due to the unbreakable encryption that sky use, there is no other way I've heard of to copy recorded programs from your sky+ box. The grabster av costs in the region of €30-€120. Check online reviews on the different models to see which one bests suits your needs. Mine cost me around €35 about a year ago, and it's never let me down (grabster av 250). Very easy to use. I'm sure there are newer and better models available. Hope this helps!
